2018 Free Speech Award goes to Team ENOUGH – A Youth-Led Group Committed to Ending Gun Violence
American INSIGHT’s 2018 Free Speech Award will be presented to Team ENOUGH in recognition of their successful effort in galvanizing young students to exercise free speech through activism at a ceremony at the University of Pennsylvania’s Kislak Center on Wednesday evening, November 14th, 2018.
Ms. Eastmond and Mr. Rodriguez will be joined by Sigal Ben-Porath of the University of Pennsylvania, an expert on free speech on campus, and Robert Disney, the Organizing Director for the Brady Campaign, for a wide-ranging conversation about gun violence prevention and harnessing the power of free speech to hold elected officials accountable. The panel discussion will be moderated by Karen Curry, an American INSIGHT board member, former broadcast journalism executive producer, and NBC News London bureau chief.
While school shootings like those at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Sandy Hook Elementary School, and Columbine High School have devastating effects on individual communities, chronic gun violence that occurs in many underrepresented communities of color, is equally as troubling and will be explored in the discussion. American INSIGHT is honored to facilitate this important conversation.
