American INSIGHT is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated dedicated to promoting insight into Free Speech, Human Rights, and the Rule of law through the power of film and social media. American INSIGHT operates both locally in Philadelphia, PA and around the globe through its following programs:
Free Speech Blog
The Free Speech Blog generates original materials that highlight Free Speech heroes, historical facts, and groundbreaking discoveries that are made during American INSIGHT‘s ongoing research into the history of Free Speech. Documentary filmmakers, Free Speech Award recipients, social activists, college students, and members of social justice non-profits will be featured on the Free Speech Blog throughout the year.
Free Speech Film Festival
American INSIGHT’s Free Speech Film Festival accepts films submitted from around the world. All films are judged anonymously and by public consensus. Six “Official Selection” Free Speech films emerge from this process each year. American INSIGHT’s Free Speech Blog serves as a platform for promoting these “Official Selection” films by generating articles, interviews, quotes, and memes that highlight not only the creative mind and spirit of each filmmaker, but also the political themes and global issues addressed by their films.
Free Speech Award
American INSIGHT’s Free Speech Award recognizes one film each year that best depicts an issue relevant to the core principles of Free Speech and the Rule of Law. The Free Speech Blog highlights all “Official Selection” films during the next 12 months, through updated news of the film and behind-the-scene interviews with each filmmaker.
Free Speech Storyline
American INSIGHT’s Free Speech Storyline presents an interactive and educational timeline of historically significant achievements in the advancement of Free Speech and the Rule of Law from the sealing of Magna Carta in England in 1215 to the present day, including the addition of American INSIGHT’s final Free Speech Award–winning film each year.
American INSIGHT’s Internship Program provides college-age students in the Greater Philadelphia area with unparalleled opportunities to improve their skills and develop their resumes. The Internship Program fills a critical need in our nation’s television and film production industry by providing real world experience in film festival and events management, archival research, audio and video production opportunities, fundraising, community involvement, and social media outreach.
